The Capsicum Re Foundation was established in 2016 to provide balance to its business and move the dial. It focuses on smaller charities where involvement can make a profound difference and had raised over £500,000 to date helping charitable causes ranging from the Richard House Children’s Hospice, St Aidan’s Church in Skelmanthorpe, The Sarah Groves Foundation, Stacey’s Smiles, Sands and the Nepal Youth Foundation.
Internal support
The Foundation requires internal support in order to be successful as it relies on employees raising money and nominating charities to support. We worked with the management team to compile a survey to understand how the Foundation was viewed internally. We then worked with the CEO to devise a strategy to encourage and increase engagement levels ranging from producing marketing brochures, producing an internal newsletter and internal communications from the CEO.
Design
CSR initiatives require promotion, and eye-catching materials are a guaranteed way of garnering interest. During the Capsicum Re Foundation Speed Project, a recent endeavour which challenged employees to jointly run, walk, cycle or row 8,500km in just one month, we designed internal materials to keep employees on track with their progress. This included an interactive sign mapping out the distance travelled, which was the equivalent to travelling between Capsicum Re’s offices in London, Bermuda, New York and Miami. This in turn boosted staff morale so much so that when Capsicum Re smashed through their 8500km target, we needed to design a secondary board to cover part II of the challenge – an additional 3,000km which encompassed their offices in Rio de Janeiro and Santiago .
