BMS, the independent specialist insurance and reinsurance broker, announced today that it is strengthening its service offering across up, mid and downstream energy with the appointment of three highly experienced and exceptionally regarded specialist energy practitioners.
Alex Collier and Josh Saggers will join as directors and Andrew Vertigan as a senior account handler, effective from May 2023, and commence an expansion of BMS specialisms in North America by working with BMS US Marine specialists and completing the circle of service across energy and marine. Based in London, the trio will report to James Chicken, managing director of energy lines at BMS.
Collier brings to BMS 15 years of energy experience, with a focus on physical damage and liability insurance for upstream energy clients. He joins from Price Forbes & Partners, where he has been executive director of its energy division since 2019. In this role, he designed and placed insurance programmes for exploration and production companies, and service and drilling contractors as well as many midstream and downstream energy risks both in the London and in the international insurance markets .
Vertigan joins BMS with 35 years of experience in the energy sector. Over his career, he has specialised in the independent wholesale specialty space covering downstream energy, renewables, power, marine and majoring in upstream energy for the past 18 years. He joins from Miller Insurance Services where he was most recently an energy account handler. Prior to this, he held a number of leadership positions at Marsh & McLennan Companies and Sedgwick Offshore Resources Ltd.
Saggers too has more than 15 years’ experience in broking and advisory. He joins BMS from his most recent role as director at Price Forbes & Partners, where he was responsible for broking a variety of risks into the London, European and Bermudian markets, including upstream, midstream, downstream, marine, general liability, and construction clients. He began his insurance career in RK Harrison’s energy division in 2008.
