Canopius Group, a leading global specialty (re)insurer, today announces the appointment of Paul Western as head of US casualty treaty, effective immediately. Based in London, Western will report to Christopher Gray, head of specialty reinsurance.
With more than 30 years of experience, Paul joins Canopius from Optio Group, where he held the position of chief underwriting officer, overseeing strategic developments across numerous classes of business. Prior to that, Paul gained considerable experience in the US Casualty market having spent 17 years at MS Amlin Syndicate, most recently as product lead for US casualty and specialty lines and previously head of casualty insurance.
