r10 Consulting (r10), the management consultancy for the insurance industry, has appointed Hélène Stanway and Paul Willoughby as strategic advisors, completing a new executive strategic advisory team for the firm.
The team is made up of Stanway, Willoughby, chief technology officer Chris Hendry and executive director John Taylor, and it will play an integral part in guiding and strengthening r10’s advisory capabilities.
Companies in the global specialty market face challenges and opportunities around the use of technology, the transition to ‘data first’ and their strategic direction. The combined experience of Stanway and Willoughby – both highly effective, well-known market leaders – covers digital transformation across emerging technologies, innovation, operations, data, business strategy and planning. This will strengthen r10’s capability to understand, address and advise clients on their strategic direction and tackle market challenges head on.

Hélène Stanway has more than 25 years’ experience of emerging technologies, innovation, digital transformation, operations and data, where she actively combines the human element, design and innovation alongside technology. She spent 17 years at XL Catlin where she held many senior roles including global head of operations – specialty and chief of staff to COO. At AXA XL she was then VP, global head of technology innovation, followed by a Lloyd’s role as market engagement & adoption lead & interim data lead for Future at Lloyd’s. She is currently a non-executive and coaching director at EDII and a mentor to the Insurance Breakfast Club, a market engagement advisor to the chair of the Data Council, and president at SENSE Consortium.
Paul Willoughby brings more than 25 years’ insurance expertise across digital transformation, innovation, operations, business strategy and planning. He spent the past nine years at Beazley in a variety of senior roles, including head of strategy & insight – corporate development and head of digital ventures. Prior to this Paul led a number of market modernisation projects at Lloyd’s. Paul’s specific vision is to help people design, test and create new concepts for insurance and believes this can be achieved by connecting passionate people and market leading technology. In his spare time, Paul is a non-executive director at Deedbees and a coaching director at EDII.
