ASIA: Leading specialist insurer, Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK), today announces the appointment of Cindy Gunawan as special risks underwriter, based in Singapore.
With extensive experience of both broking and underwriting, Gunawan will focus on developing TMK’s political risk and trade credit, and political violence and terrorism portfolios across Asia, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand. She previously worked at TMK in a similar role between 2016 and 2020.
She joins from Marsh where she was vice president, Political Risks and Structured Credit, with responsibility for managing key client accounts and growing a range of credit products in the Indonesia region, including trade credit, surety bonds and structured credit.
Gunawan’s appointment is the latest for TMK Asia Pacific, as it looks to develop and expand in this region in response to growing client demand. She will take up the role from 14 August 2023, reporting to Jamie Tang, regional underwriting director, Asia Pacific.
Tang said: “Cindy’s experience dedicated to this line of business means she’s perfectly placed to support clients with this often-complex area of risk, through fantastic expertise and knowledge. We’re excited to welcome Cindy back to TMK.”
TMK is one of the largest specialist (re)insurers on the Lloyd’s Asia platform and has an established presence in Singapore, with locally empowered underwriters and claims experts focused on specialist classes including property, aviation, fine art & specie, marine cargo, special risks, cyber, and accident & health.
